Fire burned down nearly 20 hectares of U Minh Ha cajuput forest
At noon on April 25, in Hamlet 16, Nguyen Phich Commune, U Minh District, Ca Mau Province, about 20 hectares of 4-5 year old cajuput forest of 15 households that were assigned land for forest planting were burned down.
This is the most damaging forest fire in Ca Mau since the beginning of the dry season. According to initial information, the cause of the forest fire was due to people going into the forest to collect honey.

On the evening of April 25, Mr. Ngo Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of U Minh district, said that after nearly 7 hours of mobilizing more than 300 forest rangers and local people to actively fight the fire, the fire was completely controlled.
Although the functional departments of U Minh district have organized many propaganda campaigns, strictly prohibiting illegal honey collection in the forest, many people are still not aware of the need to protect the forest.
Currently, the water source under the canals has been depleted, causing many difficulties for forest fire fighting during the dry season. More than 41,000 hectares of Melaleuca forests in Ca Mau province are under fire alert at dangerous and extremely dangerous levels./.
