The United States intercepted Russian Tu-214 aircraft carrying out observation flights.
The United States prevented Russia's new Tu-214ON from carrying out an observation flight under the Open Skies Treaty without explaining the reasons, Sergei Ryzhkov, an official, said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.

According to Ryzhkov, within the framework of the Open Skies Treaty, from September 2 to 11, Russia conducted an international survey of the Tu-214ON surveillance aircraft equipped with OSDCAM4060 cameras produced by this country.
"As a result of the test, the heads of delegations of 22 countries signed the final protocol allowing observation flights of this aircraft when flying over the territory of the countries participating in the treaty. However, the head of the American delegation, in violation of the requirements of the Open Skies Treaty, without explaining and giving any reasons, refused to sign the final document," Ryzhkov said.
According to him, by preventing the new Russian aircraft from carrying out an observation flight, the US side once again proved to other countries participating in the survey that the main reason for Washington's refusal to sign the document was not the aircraft's technical problems, but political reasons.
