US approves $2 billion arms sale to Taiwan
The US State Department has approved the sale to Taiwan of M1A2T Abrams tanks and Stinge air defense missile systems, as well as other related equipment worth more than $2 billion, according to a report by the Pentagon's Defense and Security Cooperation Agency.

The Office of the Economic and Cultural Representative of Taiwan in the United States requested the sale of the weapons.
In total, Taiwan requested the United States to sell 108 special-edition tanks, 14 M88A1 armored repair and recovery vehicles, 16 tractors, as well as more than 300 machine guns, various types of ammunition and equipment for military equipment.
