The United States plans to delay imposing import tariffs on metals for some countries.
The Trump administration may extend tariffs on steel and aluminum imports beyond May 1 for some countries, namely Canada and Mexico, CNBC reported, citing sources familiar with the situation.

“The extension date could vary from country to country depending on progress in negotiations on this and other trade issues,” the source said.
As for South Korea, the tariffs will be eliminated on a permanent basis as the country agrees to quotas under the new trade deal, the TV channel reported.
In late March, the United States imposed import tariffs on steel and aluminum, at rates of 25% and 10%, respectively.
