According to him, Baghdad and Washington have reached a corresponding agreement.
"No later than April 1, everything needs to be done before this time, that's what the United States told us. As soon as their campaign in the East of the Euphrates and Bangouz ends, they will start withdrawing their troops," Mostafa confirmed at the Middle East Conference organized by the "Valdai" Discussion Club.
The United States and its allies have been conducting a campaign against IS since 2014, and in Syria they have acted without the consent of the local government. Last December, Trump announced the withdrawal of troops from Syria, but did not specify when the operation would end.
As the Wall Street Journal reported citing sources in the US administration, if the White House does not change course, the military will withdraw a significant portion of its troops from Syria by mid-March and the process will be completed by the end of April.
