Prime Minister: Propose that the US side postpone imposing tariffs on Vietnam for at least 45 days

On the evening of April 7, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting with ministries and branches to update the situation with new developments and continue to discuss solutions after the United States announced reciprocal tariffs on goods from many countries, including Vietnam.
The government asked the United States to temporarily suspend tariffs for negotiations.

The Vietnamese government has proposed that the US side temporarily postpone the imposition of reciprocal tariffs on Vietnamese goods for 1-3 months to allow for negotiations, in the spirit of ensuring fairness and mutual benefit; requested that businesses exporting to the US market maintain their prices pending negotiations; and deploy appropriate and effective solutions to "preserve the market".
