(Baonghean.vn) - After their father passed away and their mother became seriously ill, two sisters were transferred from the South to their hometown to study, relying on their grandparents' family. That is the pitiful situation of two sisters, Tran Thi Thu Thuy, 7A students, Thanh Mai Secondary School, Thanh Chuong District.

According to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ha (68 years old) - the maternal grandmother of the Thuy sisters in Mai Dinh hamlet, Thanh Mai commune, the mother of the two children is Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, after finishing secondary school, she went to the South to work for a leather shoe company. In 2003, she married Mr. Tran Van Hoan, who is from the same commune.

During their stay, her family built a house in Ben Cat, Binh Duong with the intention of settling down for a long time. The couple had two children: Tran Thi Thu Thuy (born in 2007) and Tran Van Cong (born in 2009). They thought that their life as hired laborers in a foreign land would pass peacefully, but unexpectedly...

In April 2018, Ms. Dung had a headache, went to the doctor and was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and had to be hospitalized for surgery. While she was being treated at the hospital, a few months later, her husband, Mr. Hoan, was also hospitalized due to prolonged abdominal pain and was diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer.

All the assets in the house that the couple had saved up had to be sold to pay for the hospital bills. However, due to the seriousness of his illness, after a period of treatment, Mr. Hoan passed away in February 2019. More than 3 months after her husband passed away, Ms. Dung was hospitalized again. This time, Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) concluded that she had a malignant brain tumor.

Due to difficult circumstances, in August 2019, she had to send her two children back to her hometown to be raised and educated by their grandparents. After being hospitalized three times at Cho Ray Hospital, her condition became more and more serious, with blurred vision and memory loss, and her maternal relatives had to take her back to her hometown. "When she first came home, she had to be helped to walk, and her mind sometimes remembered and sometimes forgot," said Mrs. Ha.

In early 2020, Ms. Dung was taken to Hanoi for brain surgery at Viet Duc Hospital. After a re-examination, due to the lack of conditions for further treatment at K Hospital - Hanoi, she was taken to the provincial hospital for treatment for a while, then sent home.

Currently, Dung and her three children are relying on their maternal grandparents. The family is large (10 people), the grandparents are old and sick, so their circumstances are difficult. Thuy is studying in grade 7A at Thanh Mai Secondary School, and Cong is studying in grade 5B at Thanh Mai Primary School. According to the children's grandmother, when they were studying in Binh Duong, both children were well-behaved and achieved excellent results. Now that they have returned to study in their hometown, they are still confused...

From a peaceful family, suddenly devastated, exhausted, husband died, wife seriously ill, mother and children had to move back to the countryside, without a single inch of land to settle. Ms. Dung said in tears: I also did not think that our family would collapse like today. My husband died in the South and now there is no place to worship him. I am sick like this, relying on my maternal family for everything, not knowing how I will live or die, I only feel sorry for my children who are still too young...

Sharing about Thuy's situation, Ms. Duong Thi Thanh Hai, homeroom teacher of class 7A, Thanh Mai Secondary School, said: Thuy transferred to study here at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. Right from the beginning, I heard about her family's situation. Every day, Thuy comes to class quietly like a shadow, rarely seeing her smile, sometimes even seeing tears rolling down her cheeks. Looking at her, her friends and teachers all feel sorry for her.

Understanding her situation, the school leaders have created all conditions to support her and reduce her contributions. The teachers in the school and the Parents Association of class 7A have also supported her with a small amount of money to cover her studies. More than ever, the difficult situation of Thuy's family is looking forward to receiving help from kind-hearted people, benefactors and the community.
