Hoang Mai: Enhancing knowledge of maritime and island law for fishermen.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 2nd, in Quynh Dy ward, Hoang Mai town, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Steering Committee for the East Sea and Islands of Nghe An province organized a training conference to enhance legal knowledge on protecting maritime sovereignty and exploiting fisheries for fishermen.Attendees included representatives from the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Provincial Police, the Provincial Border Guard, the Ben Thuy Coastal Information Station, and the Fisheries Exploitation and Protection Sub-Department.

Overview of the training session.

The training course was attended by 350 delegates from relevant sectors and owners of fishing vessels with engines ranging from 90 to 150 horsepower from the communes and wards of Quynh Lap, Quynh Phuong, Quynh Dy, and Quynh Lien.

During the training course, delegates, especially fishermen, received comprehensive information on the recent situation in the sea and islands, the activities of forces on the border and islands in defending national sovereignty and territorial waters. They were introduced to and provided with information on the communication system of the Vietnam Coastal Information Station, the importance of communication equipment for fishermen when operating at sea, the management of fishing vessel registration, the State's policies on supporting fishing vessels when going out to sea, issues of ensuring national security at sea, and the exploitation and protection of the marine environment… This helped to raise the awareness of fishermen in complying with regulations in their fishing activities at sea, as well as their awareness of protecting the country's maritime sovereignty and territorial waters, encouraging them to continuously go out to sea and develop the economy.

The boat owners inspected various pieces of equipment such as walkie-talkies, sonar, and GPS devices, which are essential on fishing vessels.

Information regarding the situation of people from Nghe An province illegally leaving the country, staying and working illegally, and the unpredictable consequences were also discussed at the training course. The aim was to raise awareness among workers and the public about participating in overseas labor export programs, minimizing potential risks, and ensuring the safety and health of workers in global labor markets.
