Hoang Mai: Winter crop production earns more than 90 million VND/ha
(Baonghean.vn) - After more than 2 months of planting and caring, the early winter crops of Hoang Mai town have now been harvested. Favorable weather has resulted in high crop yields, bringing in large incomes for farmers. The average winter crop production value is 90.5 million VND/ha.
Mr. Truong Van Kinh's family, village 4, Quynh Lien commune, has 4 sao of land growing early-season carrots, which have been sown since August and have now been harvested. The yield is 1.5 tons/sao. Early-season carrots have large, even roots, are free of pests and diseases and are easy to sell at a field purchase price of 10,000 VND/kg. Carrot leaves are also used as feed for cows, pigs and deer. Each sao of carrots costs 2.5 million VND. Thus, his family earns a profit of 12.5 million VND/sao, many times higher than growing other vegetables. Mr. Kinh happily said that although the rainy weather at the beginning of the season affected productivity, the high price made farmers make a big profit.
