According to The Mirror publication, members of the royal family deliberately avoided approaching the US leader, while he was admiring paintings in the Royal Gallery in Buckingham Palace.
The publication's source, who was present at the reception, said that Prince Harry "stood in a dark corner with a gloomy face" the entire time.
“He was clearly trying to keep his distance from the president and first lady while they were looking at the collection. He stood in the back of the room, swaying and looking completely uninterested,” the source said.
Prince Harry also did not appear at the party celebrating Mr. Trump's visit.
The publication's journalists believe that Prince Harry acted this way because the politician insulted his wife.
In an interview with The Sun, he called the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle “unfriendly” after learning she had criticized Trump’s election campaign. The former actor accused him of being “misogynistic” and making statements that “inflame tensions and create conflict”.
However, the US President wished her luck and expressed confidence that she would become “a very good American princess”.
Meghan Markle herself had a reason not to meet the US President because she was taking care of her newborn child.
