Khalid Al Qasimi, 39, the son of the Emir of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, has died at his home in the UK. British officials said the cause of death is still unknown, according to CNN..

The Emirate of Sharija announced on July 2 that the prince had died in London, a day after British police were called to Khalid's apartment in the upscale Knightsbridge area. Police found the UAE prince dead in his home at around 10:30 a.m. Although an autopsy was conducted, the British side has not yet determined the cause of Prince Khalid's death.

Prince Khalid's funeral was held on July 3. The Emirate of Sharjah announced a three-day mourning period.

The Emir of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, has three children: two sons and one daughter. However, a few years ago, Prince Khalid's older brother also passed away.

Prince Khalid moved to London at the age of 9 and graduated from the University of London. He opened his own fashion label, Qasimi, in 2008.

“The fashion world has lost an artist and philosopher. We ask that the privacy of his family, team and brand be respected at this difficult time,” Qasimi said in a statement.

In a 2015 interview with Style.com, Khalid shared: “I always consider myself an outsider wherever I am. I’m too Western for the Middle East and too Middle Eastern for Western life. So I don’t think of myself as someone who wants to adapt to any style. I prefer to observe.”
