When receiving the award, the “Iron Lady” gave her student many compliments: “Hoang Xuan Vinh has made Vietnam famous. Witnessing the moment he won, I cried tears of joy. I know that at that time, millions of Vietnamese people were as happy as I was. To achieve this result, Xuan Vinh not only had talent and passion but also had to go through many sacrifices”.
In the women's category, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien beat wrestler Nguyen Thi Lua and boxer Van Ngoc Tu to win the prestigious award. Due to her training in the US, Anh Vien was unable to attend the Victory Cup gala to receive her award.
