Hoang Yen Chibi: 'I cried because I didn't think I would win the award'
The winner of the first season of "I am an actor" shared that she highly appreciated the performances of the other contestants in the final. She just tried her best to give the best performance possible.
- How do you feel about becoming the first champion of the show "I am an actress"?
- Honestly, I was very surprised by the result. I didn't think I could win the championship because I didn't practice well during the rehearsal. Actress Hanh Thuy reminded me a lot about my voice and movements. When I was corrected many times, I was confused. I don't know what obstacle prevented me from showing my full potential. Before entering the competition night, I was a bit sad but still tried to do my best.
In the final night, I highly appreciated the performances of Thu Hien and Annie Huynh Anh. So when the awards were announced, I was overwhelmed with emotion, not thinking I was so lucky.

- Compared to the "Star Academy" contest, how do you feel about this coronation?
- Of course, I was much happier and more excited because I won the highest position. The award made me feel that all the effort I put in was worth it. I will always remember the moment when Thanh Loc announced my name for the championship. I have long dreamed of seeing Thanh Loc perform. I did not expect that this time, not only did he praise me, but I also had my idol himself announce my name in the moment of coronation.
- What are your plans with the 100 million VND prize?
- I give a portion to my mother to take care of the family. My younger brother has just moved to Ho Chi Minh City to study, so the financial burden on my mother's shoulders is quite large. The rest, I invest in the next music products.

- It sounds contradictory when you participate in an acting competition, but spend the prize money on singing. How do you explain that?
- I joined with many purposes, both to gain experience and learn acting skills, and to earn more money to help my family and pursue my passion if I win. I think that for anyone, a cash prize is a motivation to strive. If you consider it a worthy reward for your efforts, then the winner has the right to enjoy it.
I grew up with music and am most talented in this field. During my time participating in "I am an actor", I temporarily put my passion for music aside to focus on the competition. This is the time when I feel I have the finances, energy, and emotions to make a MV to mark my return to the audience. This is also to satisfy the expectations of those who have been waiting and cheering me on all this time.
- What are your plans for acting?
- Currently, I am still acting in the sitcom Gia dinh ngu qua. I also hope to have many new roles to challenge myself more. Those will be interesting experiences, adding to my artistic journey.
Judge Minh Hang once commented that I act very instinctively, with all my emotions. That is a precious thing that not every actor has. I consider this lucky and a strength. However, I will have difficulty when facing characters that are heavy on psychology, requiring experience. Therefore, to compete with professional actors, I must definitely go through a process of rubbing, honing my acting as well as other necessary skills of an actor.

The female singer received the support of her mother and younger brother throughout the competition. |
- Many young singers, after many times acting in movies, are still not called "actors". What do you say about your case?
- I don't care what other people call me. I started out as a singer, and my talent is singing, so I don't try to be called a star, an actor, or any other title. I let things come naturally. If I'm lucky enough to succeed in acting, I'll consider myself one step closer to becoming a versatile artist.
