According to research by British and Swedish doctors, high education is the cause of brain cancer. |
The Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health published this study by British and Swedish doctors.
In their study, researchers examined data on 4.3 million people born in Sweden between 1911 and 1961. Doctors followed them for 17 years starting in 1993.
Brain tumors were found in 5,700 men and 7,100 women. Among men who had attended college for at least three years, the risk of glioma was 19% higher than among those who did not continue their education after nine years. The comparable figure for women was 23%.
Scientists have not yet determined the cause of the associations examined.
