Students in An Giang will return to school on August 22nd.
The first day of school for students in An Giang takes place about 10 days before the official opening ceremony. This allows schools ample time to prepare for the new school year and helps students feel relaxed and less stressed.
School start and opening ceremony dates
The People's Committee of An Giang province has just issued Decision 600/QD-UBND stipulating the timeframe for the 2025-2026 school year for all educational levels, from preschool to high school.
According to Decision 600/QD-UBND, students at all levels, from preschool, primary, secondary, and high school, as well as those in continuing education programs, will return to school on August 29, 2025.
Students in grades 1, 9, and 12 will start school earlier, on August 22, 2025. The opening day of the new school year will be uniformly set for September 5, 2025, across the province.
School and Tet holiday schedule
Semester I: begins from September 8, 2025 to January 10, 2026, comprising 18 weeks of actual study.
Semester II: takes place from January 12, 2026 to May 23, 2026, comprising 17 weeks of actual study, including 2 weeks of Lunar New Year holiday.
The total number of school weeks in a year is 35.
Complete the program and finish the school year before May 31, 2026.
Consider granting recognition of completion of primary school program and graduation from lower secondary school before June 30, 2026.
Complete the enrollment process for grades 6 and 10 for the 2026-2027 school year before July 31, 2026.
The high school graduation exam and the national excellent student competition are organized according to the schedule set by the Ministry of Education and Training.
Public holidays are observed according to the Labor Code and annual guiding documents. Teachers' annual leave is taken during the summer break or may be arranged intermittently at other times of the year to suit the specific situation and the school year schedule of An Giang province.
During the implementation process, the Department of Education and Training will advise the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on decisions regarding school closures and extensions of the school year in special circumstances; decisions on school closures in cases of extreme weather conditions or natural disasters, and arrangements for make-up classes; and announcements of exam schedules and guidance for provincial-level exams and competitions.
