(Baonghean.vn) On the afternoon of May 9th, while returning home from school, Nguyen Vinh Cong, a 5th-grade student in My Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, was struck and killed by lightning.
At that time, the Yen Thanh district suddenly experienced heavy rain accompanied by lightning. On his way home from school, about 1km from his house, Cong was struck by lightning and fell unconscious. Immediately, many people rushed to give him first aid, but it was too late.
That same afternoon, the local authorities of My Thanh commune, along with various organizations, visited and offered support to Cong's family. It is known that Cong's family is facing financial difficulties, with his father working abroad.
According to the meteorological agency, the current transitional season often brings unusual disturbances such as lightning, thunderstorms, and tornadoes. Last month, in Nam Kim commune, Nam Dan district, two people riding motorbikes were struck and killed by lightning.
