| Nghe An province has been implementing the policy of educational streaming for quite some time and has been intensified since 2015, after the Provincial People's Committee issued the plan "Educational Streaming, Career Guidance, and Vocational Training for Students After Junior and Senior High School in Nghe An Province until 2020". The province's goal is that by 2020, the percentage of students after junior high school entering continuing education centers and vocational schools will be 25%, and those in short-term vocational training will be 5%. At this time, before 9th-grade students begin registering for 10th-grade admissions, schools have intensified their efforts to guide students in choosing schools and careers. (Photo: Duc Anh) |

| The top priority for schools currently is to guide students towards public and private high schools. However, if students have limited abilities, they can attend Continuing Education Centers, which offer a model that combines academic and vocational training. Additionally, ninth-grade students can directly enroll in vocational colleges. (Photo: Duc Anh) |

| For 12th-grade students, in recent years, the percentage of students in Nghe An who have not applied to universities has reached approximately 35-40%. This is a positive sign, indicating that students and parents have changed their perspective on choosing schools and careers, and many students have realized that university is not the only path to success. | However, effective career guidance must be genuine, avoiding the pursuit of achievements or quotas. In 2020, the Director of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training stated: Strict action will be taken against school principals who fail to properly implement career guidance, or who create difficulties and hinder students from taking the high school graduation exam as stipulated in regulations, in order to ensure the rights of all students. |
