Students in flood-stricken areas return to school in classrooms thick with mud.

(Baonghean.vn) - After a week of school closure due to flash floods, 250 students from Yen Tinh Secondary School (Tuong Duong, Nghe An) have now returned to school.

Students at Yen Tinh Secondary School have resumed classes after a week-long break due to heavy rain and flooding.

On the morning of September 20th, 250 junior high school students in Yen Tinh commune returned to school as normal. Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, the principal of Yen Tinh Junior High School, said: "The student attendance rate is currently maintained at over 98%. Students basically have enough textbooks, desks, and chairs for studying."

Currently, the entire schoolyard is still covered in thick mud, so physical education classes cannot be started yet.

Earlier, in the early morning of September 14th, a sudden flash flood occurred in the middle of the night, sweeping away all the books, desks, chairs, and other facilities at the school. In just one night, the school was reduced to rubble. Immediately afterwards, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union provided 70 million VND to purchase 120 sets of desks and chairs, and all the books for the students of Yen Tinh. Many agencies and departments in the area also provided support in the flood relief efforts.

The teachers' dormitory area is still covered in mud.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, the school's current goal is to both mitigate the consequences and resume teaching to keep up with the curriculum. In reality, physical education and computer science cannot be taught again because the grounds are buried under mud, and 20 of the school's computers are also submerged and unusable.
