Along with Hoang, the remaining 5 students of the Vietnamese delegation had 3 students winning gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal. As a result, the Vietnamese delegation ranked 3rd out of more than 100 delegations (after the Korean and Chinese delegations). This is also the highest result in the 43-year history of Vietnam's participation in the International Mathematics Olympiad.
Thus, after much anticipation, the first Gold Medal in Mathematics finally came to Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.
The delegation is expected to return to Vietnam on the morning of July 25.
