Students from Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted win Gold Medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad.
This is one of two gold medals won by the Vietnamese student delegation at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad. The student who brought home this prestigious medal is Vo Trong Khai, a student from class 12A1.
This morning (July 19th), Ms. Cao Thi Lan Thanh - Principal of Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School - announced that student Vo Trong Khai has excellently won the Gold Medal at the competition.International Mathematical Olympiad2025.
Vo Trong Khai was an outstanding student from the very beginning of high school, achieving a perfect score of 20/20 in the entrance exam for the specialized mathematics class. He was also the first student from the school to participate in the National Excellent Student Competition as early as 10th grade. In both 10th and 11th grades, he won second prize in the national excellent student competition. In 12th grade, he excelled and won first prize. Throughout all three years of high school, Vo Trong Khai was selected to participate in the second round of the selection process for the national team to compete in the International Mathematical Olympiad.

The 66th International Mathematical Olympiad will take place from July 10 to 20, 2025, in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, bringing together over 639 contestants from 113 countries and territories.
The Vietnamese student delegation consisted of 6 members participating in the competition. As a result, all 6 students won medals, including: 2 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals, and 1 Bronze medal.

- Vo Trong Khai, a 12th-grade student from Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School in Nghe An province, won a Gold Medal.
- Tran Minh Hoang, a 12th-grade student from Ha Tinh Specialized High School, Ha Tinh province, won a Gold Medal.
- Nguyen Dang Dung, a 12th-grade student from the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi: Silver Medal.
- Nguyen Dinh Tung, a student in grade 11 from the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi: Silver Medal.
- Le Phan Duc Man, a 12th-grade student from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Ho Chi Minh City, won a Silver Medal.
- Truong Thanh Xuan, a student in grade 11 at Bac Ninh Specialized High School, Bac Ninh province, won a Bronze Medal.
With a total score of 188, the Vietnamese team ranked 9th out of 113 countries and territories participating in this year's competition, after the teams: China (1), USA (2), South Korea (3), Poland and Japan tied (4), Israel (6), India (7), Singapore (8).
