“After the students learned about the traditional sedge mat weaving craft of Hung Hoa commune (Vinh city), today they practiced weaving mats,” said Ms. Nga. Then, she carefully guided the students in their practice. One student sat weaving, another student helped put the materials in place. In no time, the sedge mat began to take shape. The students practiced quite skillfully and were especially excited and passionate. After the practice session, the students returned to class with bright smiles, and recounted in detail the knowledge they had been taught.

The visual teaching model is a sturdy bamboo and thatched house built with the contributions of raw materials and skillful hands of parents of grade 3 students and teachers. It was formed after half a month of teachers, students and parents working hard and wholeheartedly to build it. All the decorative items, including production tools such as sedge mat weaving frames, clay pot turning tables, pot sets and rice paper making tools; and farming tools such as plows, harrows, hoes, shovels, shoulder poles, brocade items, etc. were all donated to the school by parents.
“Parents found the idea of building a house to serve the school’s local education classes very practical. Therefore, after communicating the idea and launching the campaign to parents, we received almost 100% agreement, and after only about a week, parents donated hundreds of artifacts. At the same time, parents themselves split bamboo, tied bamboo strips to build the classroom and decorated the objects,” said Ms. Tran Thi Thuy, parent of a student in class 3D.
“I brought three tools, baskets and trays woven from rattan and bamboo. My mother bought those tools from the Thai ethnic people in Con Cuong. Each of my classmates has an item to donate to the exhibition to serve their studies. Every time my classmates come to class, they all like to visit the exhibition booths because there are many beautiful and interesting objects” - Le Binh Nguyen, a student of class 3D happily "showed off".
Ms. Hoang Thi Thuy - Principal of Hung Dung 2 Primary School said: "Based on the desire to arouse love and interest in local educational activities and create a useful practical experience space for students right on the school campus, we came up with the idea of building a model of "Local Education Corner". From that idea, the school has coordinated with traditional craft villages, historical sites, famous landscapes and landscapes to learn and collect content and tools to make famous products of craft villages in Nghe An".
After that, the school cooperated with parents to organize extracurricular activities to build a local education model on the school campus. The model is a small hut, a block model with easy-to-find materials (bamboo, reed, ...), including tools to make products of the craft village: Tools for making sedge mats (Hung Hoa commune, Vinh city); Pots and stoves for making rice paper (Do Luong); famous products of craft villages in Nghe An.
