The drug rehabilitation camp was devastated after nearly 600 students "escaped" on October 23. |
“The situation is very tense. The mobilization measures have not been effective, so we are asking the police to carry out repressive measures. As of early afternoon, no students have escaped from the center,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Dong Nai province, on the afternoon of November 6.
According to Mr. Loc, the incident started at 10am the same day when hundreds of students at the Dong Nai Drug Rehabilitation Center (Xuan Phu Commune, Xuan Loc District, Dong Nai) broke the door of the room and rushed into the yard, causing chaos. The students were smashing, shouting and acting recklessly, so the center's staff could not react. Currently, hundreds of police officers, soldiers and militiamen of Xuan Loc District are present to maintain order and try to prevent students from escaping.
Previously, at the Dong Nai Drug Rehabilitation Center, there were three cases of drug addicts escaping from the center. The peak was on the night of October 23, when nearly 600 drug addicts broke into rooms, drilled holes in walls, and escaped en masse. They went out, flooded into residential areas, caused trouble, and went onto Highway 1 to block cars and motorbikes of passersby and ask for money.
The Dong Nai Provincial Police Mobile Force had to mobilize dozens of officers and soldiers to organize the chase. The number of students who escaped the previous time had not been collected yet, but today the above chaos occurred./.
