"We see a return of violence and increased fighting in many places. We had planned to deliver aid to four towns in Syria, but now we need to reassess the security conditions," Mr. Mardini said.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric also said that at least 18 of the 31 Syrian Red Crescent (SARC) aid vehicles were attacked on September 19, along with an aid depot. Mr. Dujarric shared that the attacked convoy was supposed to deliver aid to 78,000 people in the town of Urem al-Kubra in Aleppo but failed.

"It is very difficult to assess the situation in the next few hours because the violence is increasing and many people are in need of aid. Now is the time to separate humanitarian work from political developments," Mr. Mardini stressed.
