| Overview of the conference. |
At the conference, the Chairman of the Veterans Association of the town reported on the recent situation where hostile forces have been exploiting religion to distort history and undermine the state. In particular, he highlighted the case of Father Dang Huu Nam, parish priest of Phu Yen, An Hoa commune, Quynh Luu district, who, during his sermons, used outrageous and provocative language, slandering the achievements of the revolutions, trampling on the sacrifices of our ancestors to regain national independence, and insulting the contributions of generations of Vietnamese people, including veterans.
Veteran Hoa Xuan Tung, 87 years old, residing in Thu Thuy ward, is both a disabled veteran (category 2/4) and a participant in both the resistance wars against France and the United States. He expressed his indignation: “It’s not just me, but countless Vietnamese people have sacrificed their blood and lives for the peace and independence we have today. Yet, Father Dang Huu Nam is arrogant, disregards the law, and slanders the achievements of the revolution. He truly deserves to be punished by law.”
