The “five-color” cake is made from glutinous rice flour, each cake has 5 colors made from nature: red from the fruit of the plum tree, purple from the purple leaves, green from the pandan leaves, yellow from the turmeric and white from the flour. After grinding the glutinous rice flour, keep each type separately. Wash the leaves, drain, grind them and strain the water. Mix the ground flour with the colored water, then steam. After the dough is cooked, the maker takes it out to flatten, roll the 5 colors together and then cut the five-color cake to enjoy.

The most distinctive feature of the cake is that it must have the flavor of the plum. This fruit is only available from November to December. Therefore, the “five-color” cake is only made during the festival season to serve tourists... The “five-color” cake has the aroma of different plants, the stickiness of sticky rice, and the light sweetness of sugar.
To preserve and promote the beauty of the festival, Do Luong district opened a booth to make and sell five-color cakes, attracting many people to enjoy and learn how to make the cakes. This is to preserve the cultural beauty of the Qua Son temple festival, and at the same time educate the younger generation about tradition.
