Answering a question about the amount of Russia's debt to the European Council budget for the 2017-2018 part, CE Secretary General Daniel Holtgen said, about 55 million euros.
Russia has paid 33 million euros for this year, he added. Holtgen expressed hope that Moscow would pay for 2017-2018.
On 30 June 2017, Russia decided to partially suspend payments to the CE budget until the powers of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe are restored.
At the June 2019 session, PACE restored the rights of the Russian delegation, and Russian MPs returned to full work in the council.
