Nghe An Women's Union holds policy dialogue with members, women from ethnic minorities

(Baonghean.vn) - This is a dialogue to create opportunities for cadres, members, and ethnic minority women to express their thoughts, wishes, desires, and even their suggestions; associations at all levels also better understand the reality, thereby having more practical and effective activities and impacts for women.

On April 1, in Quy Chau district, Nghe An Provincial Women's Union organized a policy dialogue conference at the commune and village cluster levels in 4 villages, including Hoi 1 village, Hoi 2 village, Hoi 3 village and Le village (Chau Hoi commune).

Attending the dialogue were Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Hien - Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union; officials from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Department of Justice, the Women's Union of Quy Chau district and Chau Hoi commune, and the District Social Policy Bank.

At the dialogue, there were 24 questions raised by members, women and people focusing on issues related to marriage and family; administrative violations in law enforcement; hunger eradication and poverty reduction policies for ethnic minority areas; loan borrowers and policies for women related to labor export; support policies for malnourished women and children in difficult circumstances; policies for women living in ethnic minority areas giving birth at commune health stations; benefits when participating in health insurance and procedures when going to see a doctor, etc.

The questions raised were answered and thoroughly explained by representatives of departments and branches of Quy Chau district, at the same time providing specific and clear solutions on the implementation of policies related to socio-economic development of ethnic minority areas in general and policies and rights of women and children in particular.

The Provincial Women's Union and all levels of the Union will strengthen supervision of the implementation of policies for women and children in ethnic minority areas to detect shortcomings and promptly report them to the authorities for resolution; at the same time, pay attention to supporting and creating better conditions for cadres and members of ethnic minority women to improve their capacity, economic power, and build happy families.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Hien - Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union said: After the dialogue conference in Chau Hoi commune, the Provincial Women's Union continued to organize 6 policy dialogues at the commune and village cluster levels in 3 localities. These are: Ngoc Lam commune (Thanh Chuong district); Nam Can commune (Ky Son district) and Yen Na commune (Tuong Duong district).

The organization of the conference aims to help the Party Committee, the government, relevant sectors and the Association listen to the feedback of members and women; from there, appropriate solutions in the socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in general and support the development of women and children in particular, thereby contributing to the implementation of gender equality goals and solving some urgent issues for women and children.

On the same day, the Provincial Women's Union organized a communication campaign to prevent child marriage and incestuous marriage at Hoi Nga Boarding Ethnic Secondary School, Chau Hoi Commune, Quy Chau District for more than 500 students and parents; at the same time, launched the "Leader of Change" Club with 30 members who are students of the school.
