Online conference to summarize support policies to improve the efficiency of household livestock farming

(Baonghean.vn) - With a total support budget of 832,781 billion VND, it has created fundamental changes in household livestock farming, which accounts for 70-80% of livestock farming nationwide.

On the morning of June 11, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an online conference to summarize support policies to improve efficiency.household farming2015-2020 period and proposed support policies for the 2021-2025 period.

After nearly 6 years of implementing the Program to support the improvement of household livestock farming efficiency according to Decision 50/2014/QD-TTg, it has had a positive impact on livestock development, significantly contributing to increasing the proportion of livestock production value in agriculture; increasing the value of key products; gradually shifting the production direction from focusing on productivity and output to focusing on quality, value and food safety.

By supporting waste treatment projects in livestock farming such as Biogas and biological bedding, it has contributed to changing people's awareness, changing the face of the countryside, improving the livestock environment, both reducing environmental pollution and creating fuel for livestock farming and people's daily activities.

The policy of supporting the improvement of household livestock farming efficiency has positively impacted the lives of millions of rural livestock farming households; the income of livestock farming households has increased by 5-10%. According to reports from provinces and cities, the total support budget for livestock farming households nationwide is 832,781 billion VND.

In Nghe An, implementing Decision 50, the province has deployed two support contents: Annual artificial insemination support for pigs and support for purchasing reserve chickens and ducks; with support budget for the 2017-2020 period being over 7 billion 550 million VND.
The report of the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An province clearly stated: Small-scale livestock farming accounts for 70-80% of the total livestock and poultry herd. The support mechanisms and policies issued are very suitable for the current situation of the livestock industry in the country in general and in Nghe An province in particular.

Thereby, creating conditions for localities to apply science and technology and new breeds to livestock production in households to improve productivity and quality of livestock breeds; contributing to improving the efficiency of household livestock farming, helping to improve and develop local breeds, increasing income for people, contributing to ensuring social security in the area.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said: Currently, the amount of meat, milk and egg products of enterprises only accounts for 47-48%, the rest belongs to small, individual and family-owned livestock farms and this is still the livelihood of households.

According to the development perspective inDevelopment strategyAccording to the livestock development plan for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2045 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1520/QD-TTg dated June 10, 2020, in parallel with promoting large-scale farm livestock farming, it is still necessary to pay attention to household livestock farming and traditional livestock farming associated with the development of specialty livestock farming and eco-tourism.

"The proposals of localities, industry associations, and enterprises will be received and synthesized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to propose to the Government and the Prime Minister to study and consider issuing new policies on livestock farming, including household livestock farming in a sustainable and effective direction," the Deputy Minister affirmed.
