Overview of the 7th Central Conference |
Mr. Nguyen Van Giap, a retired cadre from Tien Giang province, said that in recent times, the work of cadres, including high-ranking cadres, has not been up to the task at times and in some places. The management, inspection and supervision of cadres by functional agencies has not been strict. Therefore, the discussion of cadre work at the 7th Central Conference of the Party this time is extremely necessary.
“I am very happy that this time, the Central Conference brought this issue to the table. In the coming time, I think the Central Committee should consult with retired officials at the Central Committee. Because they have a long history of monitoring their senior officials’ planning. Officials must have virtue and talent. That virtue and talent must be appropriate to the assigned position. However, under the negative impact of society, virtue and talent change continuously and our monitoring agency has not kept up with it. In other words, political and ideological work may not be able to keep up with political tasks,” Mr. Nguyen Van Giap shared.
Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Head of the Department of Party Building and Ho Chi Minh Thought, Ho Chi Minh City Academy of Officials, said that the 7th Central Conference, Session XII, discussing the project of building a team of officials at all levels, especially strategic-level officials with sufficient capacity, qualities and prestige, equal to the task, is a very necessary task at this time.
Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung said that personnel work is the cause of all causes, success or failure. The fact that we recently handled a series of officials, including many high-ranking officials, shows a resolute spirit, with no forbidden zones.
“I think this is the spirit of drastic innovation in Party building and rectification today. If we can actually implement this spirit, it will be one of the most important tasks and solutions to fill all gaps and make all dark areas transparent. Only then will the negativity in the Party be pushed back, helping our Party to be the only ruling party to self-rectify and self-renew,” said Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung.
Commenting on personnel work, Mr. Le Thanh Nhan, Trung Nhut Ward, Thot Not District, Can Tho City, said that currently, there are localities where entire families hold positions of authority, dragging relatives into the political apparatus, causing many consequences. Mr. Nhan hopes that the Party Central Committee will take strong measures to thoroughly resolve this issue.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pham Thanh Noi, a retired cadre residing in Tra Vinh City, Tra Vinh Province, said: "The Party's regulations are clear, who can be a cadre, who cannot be a cadre, but external events have caused cadres to be less strict, affecting the Party's reputation and the people's trust"./.
