The Association of the Blind in Quynh Luu celebrates its 20th anniversary.

(Baonghean.vn) - On September 7th, the Association of the Blind of Quynh Luu District held a ceremony to celebrate its 20th anniversary (September 8th, 1995 - September 8th, 2015).

The Association of the Blind in Quynh Luu District was established in September 1995. Over the past 20 years, the association has recruited 251 members participating in activities across 22 branches and caring for 13 blind children in the area.

The association has gradually matured and developed, becoming a reliable organization for blind members, providing vocational training and creating jobs for the visually impaired, helping them gain more strength and confidence to overcome their challenges in life and no longer feel inferior or self-conscious.

Awards and certificates of merit were presented to outstanding groups and individuals.

Currently, the association maintains three trades: toothpick splitting, incense making, and massage. Thanks to these stable occupations and jobs, it provides regular employment for many visually impaired workers, with salaries ranging from 1.5 to 2 million VND per person per month. The association's total revenue over the past years has exceeded 6.4 billion VND. The association has also collaborated with the Social Policy Bank to establish and approve 18 projects for members to borrow preferential loans totaling 1.7 billion VND.

On this occasion, representatives of the Nghe An Provincial Association of the Blind presented the Vietnam Association of the Blind's "For the Happiness of the Blind" commemorative medal to three individuals, and awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee to one collective and one individual. The Chairman of the Quynh Luu District People's Committee also presented certificates of merit to three collectives and seven individuals for their outstanding achievements in the district's association of the blind.
