Nghe An Farmers' Association receives Emulation Flag from the Government

(Baonghean.vn) - Attending the conference to summarize the work of the association and the farmers' movement in 2017, comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hoped that all levels of farmers' associations and local departments and branches need to continue to propagate and mobilize farmers to actively change the structure of crops and livestock, and effectively implement the movement to build new rural areas.

On the morning of December 16, the Provincial Farmers' Association held a summary of the Association's work and the farmers' movement in 2017, received the Emulation Flag of the Prime Minister and received the title of cultural standard unit.

In 2017, the Provincial Farmers' Association effectively implemented the work of building the association organization and implementing 3 movements: The movement of farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably; the movement of farmers competing in building new rural areas; the movement of farmers participating in ensuring national defense and security.

During the year, 10,698 members were admitted, bringing the total number of members in the province to 521,918.

Up to now, 146,147 households have achieved the title of excellent production and business households at all levels, of which the number of households achieving the title of excellent production and business households at the central level: 556 households; at the provincial level: 4,072 households; at the district level: 16,359 households; at the grassroots level: 125,760 households.

The Association at all levels has built 94 effective collective economic models to restore and develop local specialty crops and animals and traditional industries; at the same time, it has guided and helped poor farming households. As a result, in 2017, the province helped 467 households escape poverty.

Farmers' Associations at all levels have actively promoted and mobilized farmer members to donate 5 million square meters of land, contribute 519 billion VND, and over 648,981 working days, actively contributing to the construction of new rural areas.

The Associations at all levels in the province have provided credit through the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to lend to farmers with outstanding loans reaching: 862.344 billion VND for 13,589 members of 1,211 loan groups. Entrusted through the Bank for Social Policies to lend to poor farmers and other policy beneficiaries, outstanding loans reaching 2 trillion VND, an increase of 75.6 billion VND compared to the beginning of 2016.

During the year, the Association at all levels provided over 28,500 tons of various types of fertilizers on a deferred payment basis for farmers to invest in production, with a total amount of over 180 billion VND.

In coordination with vocational schools, agricultural, forestry and fishery extension centers, 538 training sessions were organized for 35,300 members. Farmers' Associations at all levels directly and jointly organized 288 short-term vocational training classes for 9,225 rural workers.

However, besides the achieved results, there are still some shortcomings: Vocational training activities, science and technology training, and farmer support services on fertilizers and capital have not been focused on and directed strongly, so the results are not high, especially the capital through the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development is lower than the set target.

Although the quality of branch and group activities has changed, the content of activities is still monotonous, the number of members participating is not large, and the rate of party members in rural areas participating in activities is low.

In their speech at the conference, delegates said that currently, grassroots associations at all levels are facing some difficulties in providing fertilizer loan services, bank loans, and labor export.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the efforts of farmers' associations at all levels in the past year in closely following the resolutions of the Provincial Party Committee, the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, mobilizing members to actively produce and do good business, contributing to the general economic development movement of the locality and actively participating in the movement of agricultural, farmer and rural development.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that all levels of the Farmers' Association and local departments and agencies need to continue to innovate the forms of propaganda and mobilize farmers to actively change the structure of crops and livestock, as well as effectively implement the movement of building new rural areas. Promote training and transfer of scientific and technological knowledge to farmers, and at the same time promote typical examples of good production and business among members. Strengthen the role of the Farmers' Association to meet the requirements of new tasks.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister awarded the Emulation Flag to the Provincial Farmers' Association; the Prime Minister awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 individuals with achievements in contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland. The Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 individuals and 2 collectives with outstanding achievements in 2017. The Vinh City People's Committee recognized the Provincial Farmers' Association as a "cultural standard unit" in Vinh City.
