Nghe An Farmers' Association: Improving the quality of the excellent production and business movement.

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, January 10th, the Provincial Farmers' Association held a conference to summarize the Association's work and the farmers' movement in 2011 and to implement tasks for 2012. Attending the conference were Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives from the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, and relevant departments and agencies.

In 2011, the "Excellent Production and Business" emulation movement among farmers developed strongly. The entire province had 43,786 households achieving the title of excellent production and business households at various levels, including 267 at the central level, 1,694 at the provincial level, and 7,167 at the district level; many units had high rates such as Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh... Farmers' associations at all levels mobilized members to consolidate land plots, intensify cultivation, shift crop structure, and build high-income economic models. To date, the province has 387 economic models in the fields of livestock and crop cultivation. Training and technology transfer were given attention; last year, 456 vocational training classes and 2,119 training courses were opened for nearly 53,000 members; over 12 billion VND was disbursed to farmers as loans for production and livestock development.

The President of Vietnam awarded the Third Class Labor Medal and the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to outstanding individuals.

Implementing the new rural development program, the Farmers' Association at all levels has organized propaganda to help members understand the Central Association's and the province's policies on new rural development; directly supervised the pilot projects in Quynh Hau and Quynh Luong communes (Quynh Luu district) on new rural development; and mobilized farmers to implement the new rural development criteria. In the past year alone, farmer members contributed over 1.5 million man-days of labor and hundreds of billions of VND to rural infrastructure development; 5,111 farmer branches undertook the maintenance and repair of rural roads.

The key tasks of the Association in 2012 were to improve the quality of the excellent production and business movement; the emulation movement for building new rural areas; successfully implement land conversion; and encourage members to participate in ensuring national defense and security...

At the end of 2011, the Provincial Farmers' Association had 2 individuals awarded the Third-Class Labor Medal by the President of Vietnam and 2 individuals receiving Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister. 70 collectives and 67 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Provincial Association for their outstanding achievements in the Association's activities and work in 2011.
