Vietnam Farmers' Union has a new president

With 100% of the votes, Mr. Lai Xuan Mon was elected President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VI.

On April 22, in Hanoi, the 8th Central Executive Committee Conference of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (term VI) was held to complete the position of President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VI (2013-2018). Mr. Mai Van Chinh, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee attended the Conference.

The conference heard the Politburo's announcement that Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, former member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term VI, 2013-2018, and deputy of the 13th National Assembly, will retire from the position of Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union from October 1, 2016.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Lai Xuan Mon sincerely thanked the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for their trust, confidence, and responsibility. What the collective leadership of the Vietnam Farmers' Union is currently concerned about is the complicated situation of drought, natural disasters, and dirty food that is happening nationwide, significantly affecting the lives and production of farmers.

The new President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union said that in the coming time, he will continue to practice, study and contribute to meet the requirements of the renovation period and excellently fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and the people.

Mr. Lai Xuan Mon, born in 1963, from Nam Dinh, has a Master's degree in Economics. Before being elected as President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Mr. Lai Xuan Mon was a member of the Party Committee and Permanent Vice President of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union.

At the 12th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Lai Xuan Mon was elected to the 12th Party Central Committee./.
