Workshop 'Historical and cultural values of Ong Hoang Muoi Temple relic'
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 10, the workshop "Historical and cultural values of Ong Hoang Muoi Temple relic, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province" took place at the Vietnam National Museum of History with the accompaniment of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association, Vietnam Museum of History, Nghe An Province Department of Culture and Sports, and Voice of Vietnam.
The workshop aims to study and clarify the historical and cultural values related to Duc Thanh Hoang Muoi in Nghe An in the worship of the Mother Goddesses of the Three Palaces and Four Palaces of the Vietnamese people. From there, it contributes to supplementing and perfecting the research materials on the worship of Ong Hoang Muoi in particular and the worship of the Mother Goddesses of the Three Palaces and Four Palaces in general.
The Workshop Program includes two main parts: Historical and cultural values of relics and festivals and Promoting historical and cultural values of relics and festivals.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Le Doan Hop - Former Minister of Information and Communications, Honorary Chairman of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association said: "The culture of Mother Goddess worship has a certain role in folk culture. This is a cultural feature that needs to be preserved and promoted."

Duc Thanh Hoang Muoi is known as an important figure in the system of temples worshiping the Mother Goddesses of the Three Palaces and Four Palaces of the Vietnamese people with many legends and stories. This is not only a unique cultural feature with great value in contemporary folk culture but also has great tourism potential.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts said: "Ong Hoang Muoi Temple has many advantages in tourism with a convenient transportation system, geographical location, beautiful landscape suitable for tourism development".
Dr. Vu Hong Thuat, working at the Museum of Ethnology, Vietnam Union of Social Sciences Institute, said: “There are many different versions and legends about the origin of Ong Hoang Muoi. We need to clarify who Ong Hoang Muoi is, and clearly separate the worship of Ong Hoang Muoi and the worship of the water god. The worship of Quan Hoang Muoi has a great connection with the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Three Palaces - Four Palaces in contemporary Vietnam.”

Nowadays, activities related to the worship of the Mother Goddesses of the Three Palaces and Four Palaces attract a lot of attention from the people. This helps experts and authorities shape the content of the festival program, research on art decoration and performance art. At the same time, compare the differences between the Hoang Muoi Temple in Nghe An and other places.
In 2016, Saint Hoang Muoi, known as an important figure in the system of temples worshiping the Mother Goddesses of the Three Palaces and Four Palaces of the Vietnamese people, was recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Previously, in 2002, the Hoang Muoi Temple in Hung Nguyen was ranked as a historical and cultural relic by the People's Committee of Nghe An province. In 2004, the temple was restored to ensure the aesthetics and harmony of the relic site.
At the workshop, experts also proposed to speed up the process of building a dossier on the Ong Hoang Muoi temple relic site so that it can soon be ranked as a national cultural relic.
Regarding the need for tourism development, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts announced some telling figures: "The Temple of Ong Hoang Muoi also has a time highlight on March 15 and October 10, attracting many tourists."
The speakers agreed that Ong Hoang Muoi Temple is a very valuable resource for spiritual, religious and cultural tourism. Developing cultural tourism not only brings economic value but is also one of the activities to enhance the relics.
This workshop is also a forum to attract the intelligence, enthusiasm and contributions of scientists and researchers to find practical solutions in preserving, exploiting and promoting cultural heritage values in the current context in general and the cause of developing culture, tourism and socio-economy in Nghe An in particular.
The temple of Mr. Hoang Muoi in Xuan Am village, Hung Thinh commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province with the typical architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty on a flat land with an area of 10,615m². His main temple is Cho Cui Temple, which is said to be sacred, 6km away in the direction of National Highway 1A to the south, in Xuan Hong commune, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province, about 10km from Vinh city, or from Ha Tinh to the outside 40km along National Highway 1. |
