In Nghe An and Ha Tinh, 15 hospitals have dialysis units.
Chronic kidney disease is a global burden, with an estimated 20 times more patients worldwide in 2018 than in cancer and HIV/AIDS.
This is a "silent disease" that often has few symptoms in the early stages and latent diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, infection, etc.

In Vietnam, according to a survey by leading scientists in the field of dialysis, there are about 30,000 dialysis patients (accounting for 0.03% of the population). Meanwhile, due to the gradual change in the age pattern of diseases (younger), the rate of obesity, diabetes, hypertension is increasing... leading to the rate of end-stage chronic kidney disease (ESRD) will increase rapidly in the coming years. This is truly a challenge for the dialysis industry in particular and for the healthcare industry in general.
After nearly 30 years of development, the Dialysis industry in Nghe An and Ha Tinh has achieved certain achievements, the network of artificial kidney units, the Department of Dialysis has covered widely, improved in both quantity and quality. Accordingly, the service staff is 235 people, including 57 doctors, 293 artificial kidney machines, serving nearly 2,000 patients, with a network of 15 hospitals with dialysis units in both Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. However, there are still some shortcomings such as: Some medical accidents and incidents have occurred, leaving many regrettable lessons for the health sector as well as causing confusion for society; the life expectancy and quality of life of patients are still low.
