Annually, the Nghe An Association of Biological Sciences organizes scientific seminars, paving the way for research and summarizing works for dissemination and practical application in the province.
This workshop continues the success of previous workshops, such as "Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry," "Medicinal Plants of Nghe An," "Non-timber resources and the lives of people in mountainous areas," and "Biodiversity," etc. The presentations at the workshop focused on the following topics: Climate change and its consequences for Vietnam; the current status of forest resource exploitation by local people in the Khe Thoi area – the buffer zone of Pu Mat National Park; active compounds extracted from some plants in Nghe An with effects on cancer treatment; and the effects of Ioga on health.
At the conference, scientists announced several investigations into new plants added to the list of medicinal plants in Nghe An, bringing the total to 1877 species, along with hundreds of traditional remedies and hundreds of medicinal plants proposed for development and protection.
