(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of August 2, in Cua Lo Town, the Vietnam Journalists Association organized a workshop on “Current situation and solutions to improve the quality of press photography”. Attending and directing the workshop were journalists Ha Minh Hue and Pham Quoc Toan, Vice Presidents of the Vietnam Journalists Association; leaders of central and local press agencies of provinces and cities.
The opening speech of the workshop by Journalist Ha Minh Hue, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association affirmed: Press photography in general and news photography in particular have a great role, are sharp propaganda weapons because of their authenticity, attractiveness and persuasiveness. However, press photography has not yet reached its proper position, has not been paid attention to by newspaper editors in directing and using; photographers do not have photos capturing golden moments, leaving a deep impression.
In their speeches at the workshop, delegates highlighted the issues facing press photography today, namely the need to better understand the role of photography in press activities; create changes at all levels of the Association and press agencies to attract more authors and press photo works to participate in the National Press Photo Awards; the professionalism of photojournalists and editors, users of press photos; the issue of copyright infringement; the responsibility of agencies using photos towards authors and press works and the responsibility of press agencies in training and fostering professional press photography skills and professional ethics for the team of reporters and editors of press photos...
