Workshop to find solutions to build Nghia Dan into a high-tech agricultural zone
At the workshop, experts suggested solutions to turn Nghia Dan into a high-tech agricultural zone in Nghe An.
On November 28, in Nghia Dan district, the Department of Science and Technology coordinated with the People's Committee of Nghia Dan district to organize a workshop on "Solutions to promote the development of high-tech agriculture in Nghia Dan district".
Attending the workshop were representatives of institutes and departments of central ministries and branches: Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Construction, scientists, economic experts, leaders of a number of academies and universities; leaders of provincial and district departments, branches and sectors of Nghia Dan.
Current status of high-tech agricultural development in Nghia Dan
At the workshop, experts said that from the achievements of applying high technology in agriculture in the world and the practice in Vietnam, it shows that developing high-tech agriculture is the main and inevitable trend of the agricultural sector to increase the added value of agricultural products.
According to the report of the People's Committee of Nghia Dan district, in the period of 2020-2024, the district's high-tech agriculture has made significant progress. Many high-quality and productive crop and livestock varieties have been tested, applied, and expanded (The variety of crop and livestock varieties has changed significantly, in cultivation, over 90% of rice area, 80% of corn area, 60% of sugarcane area, fruit trees, ... use new varieties that adapt to harsh weather conditions, are resistant to diseases, have high productivity, good quality, beautiful designs suitable for market tastes.
In livestock farming, many new breeds of livestock are introduced and selected to overcome the limitations of local breeds.
Applying advanced farming processes, production and cultivation according to VietGAP process (37.1 hectares of oranges, guavas, melons), VietGAPH livestock farming with honey, chickens and eels; SRI improved rice intensive farming system, intensive farming, pruning to create off-season fruit or producing vegetables, tubers and fruits in greenhouses... Up to now, the whole district has 10 greenhouses with 16,000 m2Produces over 50 tons of vegetables and fruits each year.
The mechanization program in agricultural production is also applied by enterprises and farmers, the rate of mechanization in production stages increases rapidly: land preparation stage reaches 85%, harvesting stage reaches 63.5%, and transportation stage in rural areas reaches 63%.
Some advanced farming processes such as SRI, VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and ecological farming have been tested... Enterprises and farmers have started to participate in the chain, have paid attention to market signals, built product brands, and formed large-scale, concentrated production areas (corn, sugarcane, cassava, sorghum, oranges...). Therefore, the productivity and efficiency in agricultural production have developed quite well.
Linking to develop high-tech agriculture is emphasized. Typical examples include: Linking sugarcane production (NASU); Processing MDF wood with large capacity; Linking clean vegetable, root and fruit production; Nui Tien fruit juice factory; High-tech animal feed factory... From there, developing commodity products according to the value chain, promoting local strengths to build many quality products, with brands and developing stable markets.
Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW dated July 18, 2023 of the Politburo determines the development of the Ho Chi Minh Road economic corridor with a focus on developing high-tech agriculture; agricultural and forestry processing industry, construction materials and eco-tourism. Resolution No. 26-NQ/TWThe Politburo's Resolution dated July 30, 2013 on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An province until 2020 determined the task of "Building a high-tech agricultural zone with Nghia Dan as the center to exploit the agricultural potential of the Western region, creating products with quality, productivity, efficiency and being a typical example of high-tech agricultural production in the North Central region".
Decision No. 1059/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated September 14, 2023 on approving the Planning of Nghe An province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, identify "Building and developing a high-tech agricultural zone in Nghia Dan district with an area of about 200 hectares”.

Suggestions for Nghia Dan to become a high-tech agricultural zone
Nghia Dan is considered a locality with full potential and advantages: Land, climate, human resources, transportation... are a solid foundation for developing high-tech agriculture. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee chose Nghia Dan district as the survey location for the construction of the Nghe An Province High-Tech Agricultural Zone in conjunction with the Project on developing high-tech agriculture associated with processing and consumption of key agricultural and forestry products in the Ho Chi Minh Road economic corridor.
However, according to experts, besides the achieved results, Nghia Dan's high-tech agriculture still has shortcomings, limitations and faces challenges. Therefore, at this workshop, delegates focused on clarifying the following issues: Theoretical basis and practice of developing high-tech agriculture. Model of developing high-tech agriculture in the world;
Analyze and evaluate the current situation, potential and opportunities for developing high-tech agriculture in Nghia Dan district in terms of: Premises for developing high-tech agriculture in Nghia Dan district; Support policies of the Central and the province for developing high-tech agriculture; Issues arising in developing high-tech agriculture in Nghia Dan district.
At the same time, propose solutions for developing high-tech agriculture in Nghia Dan district. In particular, focus on the issues: Planning and developing high-tech agricultural zones, regions and products; Mechanisms and policies to support and encourage the development of high-tech agricultural production areas; Identifying crops and livestock to apply high technology. Identifying the main high technologies applied in agriculture; Solutions on science and technology; Developing potential to support high-tech agriculture; Financial solutions; Solutions on human resource development; Solutions on product consumption markets...
The workshop also listened to the sharing of experiences in developing high-tech agriculture from a number of provinces and domestic enterprises.
