According to Communique No. 10, 6th Session, 14th National Assembly, today (November 2), in the morning, the National Assembly listened to the presentation and reports on the ratification of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and related documents and conducted group discussions on this content.

General Cuong: Challenges and opportunities when Vietnam joins CPTPP

(Baonghean.vn) - Major General Le Van Cuong - former Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies of the Ministry of Public Security, discussed the advantages and difficulties when Vietnam joined the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Formerly known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), the CPTPP was signed by 11 member countries including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, New Zealand, Peru and Vietnam in March 2018 in Chile after the US withdrew from the agreement.

To date, six countries have ratified CPTPP, including Mexico, Japan, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada and Australia.

CPTPP will create a market of nearly 500 million consumers, with the bloc's economic scale reaching 13,500 billion USD.

Also according to communiqué No. 10, on the afternoon of November 2, the National Assembly held a plenary session in the hall to discuss the draft Law amending and supplementing Laws with provisions related to planning./.
