Today, the 17th Shangri-La Dialogue opens in Singapore.

On June 1, the 17th Asia Security Summit, also known as the Shangri-La Dialogue, will officially begin with a solemn opening ceremony.

This is one of the world's leading security forums, attended by Defense Ministers and delegations from more than 40 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

The high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation led by General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense attended the conference.

During the two-day official meeting, there will be five plenary sessions, focusing on important topics that directly affect current regional peace and stability, such as the role of major powers, security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, nuclear issues, Asia's changing security order, terrorism, and improving the quality of regional security cooperation.

In addition to the plenary session, there will be concurrent sessions and maritime security issues will also be discussed in these sessions.

The situation on the Korean peninsula is expected to "heat up" the agenda of the 2018 Shangri La Dialogue with the possibility that the US-North Korea Summit could take place in Singapore on June 12.
