More than 1,600 children in Nghe An mountainous region receive support gifts after the storm
On September 11 and 12, the Nghe An Provincial Children's Fund coordinated with Blue Dragon and the Canadian Foundation to implement a gift-giving program to support children and families affected by storm No. 3 (Wipha) and storm No. 5 in 7 mountainous communes: Huu Kiem, Chieu Luu, Muong Xen, Tuong Duong, Luong Minh, Yen Na and Nga My.
Attending the program were Mr. Colin Shonk, First Secretary of Political Affairs, Embassy of Canada in Vietnam; representative of Blue Dragon Organization; leaders of the Provincial Children's Fund and local authorities.

The delegation presented more than 1,600 gifts worth VND1 billion, including necessities, school supplies and some equipment for community activities. In addition, the delegation also delivered 5 generators to communes to ensure daily life and support in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. The funding was sponsored by the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) through the Blue Dragon Organization.

Along with the gift-giving activities, the delegation visited and encouraged a number of households that suffered heavy damage from storm No. 3. Many families are still facing difficulties in their daily lives and their children's education has been interrupted.

Representative of the Canadian Embassy, Mr. Colin Shonk shared: “We are very sympathetic to the difficulties that children and people in the mountainous communes of Nghe An are experiencing after the two storms. Through this support program, we hope to contribute to helping children and their families soon stabilize their lives, continue to study and develop in safer conditions.”
Within the framework of the program, the leaders of the Provincial Children's Fund also worked with the Canadian Embassy and Blue Dragon Organization, proposing a number of cooperation contents to increase support for children in difficult circumstances in the province in the coming time.
