More than 10 people arrested for involvement with Tuan 'Monkey'
Police arrested more than 10 people and expanded the investigation into several others immediately after killing Le Quoc Tuan - aka Tuan "Khi", the suspect in the shooting death of 5 people.
On the afternoon of February 14, among those prosecuted and temporarily detained by Ho Chi Minh City Police were Pham Thanh Tam (aka Ty "Ba Dom", 33 years old, close friend of Le Quoc Tuan - former Lieutenant of District 11 Police) and Le Quoc Minh (27 years old, Tuan's cousin).
These two defendants and eight others are being investigated for their behavior.Consumption of property obtained by others through crimeandIllegal possession of military weapons.
Regarding Tuan "Monkey"'s escape, two other suspects were also arrested but authorities have not released any information.

According to the investigation, at noon on January 29, Tuan and Minh went to the casino in the longan garden of Hamlet 5, Tan Thanh Dong Commune, to play dice. Having a conflict with the gamblers, Tuan went home to get an AK gun and returned to shoot many times, killing 4 people on the spot and injuring 1 person. He took the SH motorbike, about 1 billion VND at the scene, and fled. After giving the money to Tam to keep, Tuan stole the Nouvo motorbike, leaving behind 11 million VND and the SH motorbike, and continued to flee. That night, he stole another motorbike from a man on the provincial road, shooting the victim to death.
Ho Chi Minh City police have initiated a case, prosecuted the defendant and issued a wanted warrant for Tuan for the following acts:Murder, Robbery, Illegal use of military weapons.
On the evening of February 13, upon receiving the report, special reconnaissance forces coordinated with other forces to surround the abandoned house located in a plot of land of about 10,000 square meters near Cau Xang - bordering Tan Thanh Dong commune (Cu Chi district) and Tan Hiep commune (Hoc Mon district), adjacent to Provincial Road 15, with a canal behind.

Colonel Nguyen Sy Quang (Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police) said that the task force determined that Tuan could take advantage of the complex terrain to hide and escape, so they set out requirements for handling and capturing him to ensure absolute safety for the people and the force. "During the approach, the subject fought back fiercely, tried to escape, and fired 3 shots (of which 1 bullet was misfired), forcing the police to kill him. The mobilized elite force handled the incident quickly within 50 minutes," said Mr. Quang.
Police seized the AK gun Tuan used to commit the crime and 9 bullets - 1 loaded bullet and 8 bullets in the magazine.
