More than 14,000 Honda cars may suddenly 'die' due to fuel pump failure
About 14,162 vehicles of many Honda Odyssey, CR-V, Accord, Civic, City and Jazz models in Vietnam have fuel pump errors that can cause sudden engine failure.
According to information just announced by Honda Vietnam, this brand will conduct a large product recall with a quantity of up to more than 14,000 vehicles to fix fuel pump system errors. Most of the affected vehicles were manufactured between 2017 - 2018, a few were manufactured between 2019 - 2023.
The vehicles involved in this recall include many familiar names such as Honda Odyssey, CR-V, Accord, Civic, City and Jazz. The recalled models are mostly manufactured in the Thai market, with only the City model being assembled domestically.

The specific problem identified in the defective vehicles is that the fuel pump impeller system is deformed during operation, causing the fuel pump to fail, resulting in the engine stopping while driving.
In addition, there are 68 other Honda vehicles (manufactured from 2019 - 2023) that, although not included in the above production batch, have a history of replacing the fuel pump and need to be recalled for inspection. In addition, for non-genuine imported vehicles that are subject to the above, Honda Vietnam is still willing to support inspection if customers bring their vehicles to an authorized service workshop.
According to Honda Vietnam, all affected vehicle owners will receive detailed notices via handwritten letters, e-mails or direct phone calls. During the recall process, all costs related to the inspection and replacement of fuel pump components, if necessary, will be fully covered by Honda Vietnam.
