This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run globally and the 19th in Vietnam.

According to the organizers, the money raised and sponsored by individuals and organizations supporting this year's event will continue to be used for cancer research activities in Vietnam.

Present from early morning, Mr. Nguyen Dang Minh Hoang (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City) said that this was the second time he and his family participated in this event.

Mr. Hoang said: “My whole family joined the run because of the humanitarian meaning of the event. Hopefully in the future, cancer will have a cure, bringing happiness to those who are unfortunate enough to suffer from it.”

According to the organizers, this running activity is a community and social event, so it is mainly an opportunity for everyone to participate in a fun, comfortable and fundraising way, without any competition. That is why many people can walk, ride a bike or even roller skate the entire 5km distance.

This is also the charity run that attracts the most participants. Because, not only students, Terry Fox Run also has the participation of many children, foreign families as well as employees of organizations, businesses...

In 2014, the 18th annual Terry Fox Run in Vietnam had 16,500 participants, raising 1.3 billion VND. This amount was donated by the Terry Fox Run Organizing Committee and the Terry Fox Foundation in Vietnam to the activities of the Oral Cancer Early Diagnosis Project in Vietnam in the two years 2015-2016.

The Terry Fox Foundation in Canada has also chosen Vietnam for the first phase of a VND2.5 billion research project. This is the result of the outstanding success of the Terry Fox Run in Ho Chi Minh City in 2014./.
