More than 190 thousand students are unemployed, what does the Minister of Education and Training say?
Minister Phung Xuan Nha said that most of the unemployed students are from low-quality schools and newly established schools.
Questioning the Minister of Education and Training on November 16, Delegate Ho Thi Minh (Quang Tri) reiterated the current figure of 191,000 university graduates without jobs. However, in the localities, there are also many universities, which continue to train, causing an imbalance between supply and demand.
Delegates asked the Minister to provide solutions to overcome this situation, should we continue training like this?
Responding to questions, Minister Phung Xuan Nha said that each year, about 300,000 students graduate. According to statistics from universities that the Ministry requires to report, about 80% of graduates have jobs. The number of students who have jobs right away falls into the top group of schools with a long history and experience. The majority of students who do not have jobs or have been unemployed for a long time fall into low-quality schools or newly established schools.

In the coming time, the Ministry will strengthen the adjustment of the university network, apply standards to schools and sectors to support newly opened or weak schools to become branches or member schools of large universities.
The Ministry has worked with VCCI and businesses to provide additional training. Currently, there is a surplus of teachers, about 70,000 graduates. Now, we are reviewing and providing additional training to try to use the number of teachers according to standards, avoiding waste, so that they can have jobs that match their profession.
We have always paid too much attention to input, but the important thing is to ensure quality training and output. Recently, there was a requirement to report on graduates. In the future, if any school does not report, reports incorrectly, or has low employment, the Ministry will have a plan to limit these schools.
Using his right to raise a board to question the Minister, delegate Nguyen Anh Tri (Hanoi) said: I want to ask, among the 191,000 unemployed students, is there anything wrong with the Ministry of Education and Training?
“Actually, there are mistakes. I realize that and should admit it before the National Assembly. It must be emphasized that the biggest mistake is that training is not linked to demand. The planning of universities is not reasonable,” said delegate Tri.
Minister Phung Xuan Nha replied: “First of all, we accept responsibility. Quality depends on many factors inside and outside the school. But first of all, as the Ministry assigned and responsible for direction, we are responsible for many cases of many students graduating without jobs. This is a process, we are working and adjusting at the same time, we have realized it and are adjusting.”
Also at the question and answer session of National Assembly deputies on the quality of human resource training, Minister Phung Xuan Nha said that there have been instructions to adjust training facilities to closely follow reality, and during the training process, there are opinions from employers...
Analyzing the current situation of labor quality, the Minister affirmed that in the coming time, the Ministry will direct the general education program and textbooks to emphasize the content of streaming, so that students entering high school have a career orientation.
