More than 200 people make sticky rice to serve the great mass for the dead
(Baonghean.vn) - Attending the memorial service for heroic martyrs held at the Vietnam - Laos International Cemetery (Anh Son), visitors were surprised by the sticky rice making team of up to 200 people.
The grand requiem ceremony for the heroic martyrs at the Vietnam - Laos International Cemetery was organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in coordination with the People's Committee of Nghe An province on July 22 and 23 with many programs, the highlight of which was the candle-lighting requiem night.

Venerable Thich Tue Minh - Deputy organizer of the ceremony said that more than 1,000 young male and female Buddhists, students from Vinh and Ha Tinh universities, and young people from Anh Son district came to the cemetery to do volunteer work.

The monk also said: "During the candle lighting night, 600 kg of beans (including 5 types of beans) were used for the bean spreading ceremony around the altar and on the cemetery. For the food offering of sticky rice and sweet soup on July 23, more than 1 ton of sticky rice was used to make sticky rice. The logistics subcommittee had to mobilize nearly 200 people to stay up all night to cook sticky rice.

To make more than 12,000 sticky rice dishes (placed on graves and altars) in one session, the organizing committee had to mobilize more than 200 people to work actively, not counting the force carrying, transporting, and arranging sticky rice on each grave (each grave has 1 sticky rice dish), plus about 100 more people, including many children, participating.
