More than 4,800 Mercedes-Benz GLC cars in Vietnam have faulty seat belt locks
Mercedes-Benz GLC in Vietnam continues to have errors for the 4th time this year, forcing the recall of 4,802 vehicles.
The Vietnam Register has just announced that the German luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz in Vietnam will recall a series of GLC SUVs assembled in the past.
The number of cars to be recalled this time is about 4,802, produced between March 2016 and February 2018. This is also the first batch of cars to be present in Vietnam.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC models affected by this error are due to the buckles on the seat belts on the two rear seats that can be pulled into the groove between the C-pillar and the rear side panel, and cannot be removed without assistance.

The cause was determined to be a design defect in the rear panels; the failure could only occur during the seat belt release/pull-up process. In this case, the seat belt would not be available for use in the affected seat and there is a risk of injury in the event of an accident where the occupant is not wearing a seat belt.
According to Mercedes-Benz in Vietnam, the number of GLC SUVs to be recalled this time will include all three versions of the GLC 250 4matic, GLC 300 4matic and the latest GLC 200 that were just released to the market in mid-2018.
It is known that the solution that Mercedes-Benz manufacturer in Vietnam has proposed to fix the error for GLC is to "add a stopper to the C-pillar panel to prevent the rear seat belt buckle from being pulled into the groove".
This recall program will be carried out at authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers in Vietnam and is completely free of charge nationwide from January 15, 2019 and is expected to last until the end of 2023.
