During the inspection, the authorities noted that the facility did not meet food hygiene and safety conditions.

At the facility, authorities discovered more than 5 tons of apple jam, eggplant, grapes, dried lychees, etc. contained in more than 40 sacks, along with many unsanitary cardboard boxes. Authorities noted that many boxes of longan originated from China.

The representative of the above facility said that these goods were imported from the northern provinces to Ho Chi Minh City, then packaged in bags, put in cardboard boxes and brought to Binh Tay market to sell to customers during Tet.

The authorities have drawn up a record, sealed and inventoried the above mentioned quantity of jam for handling according to legal regulations.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department, on the occasion of the 2017 Lunar New Year, the city's Market Management force is focusing on fighting against smuggling and trade fraud outbreaks; focusing on high-demand consumer goods such as confectionery, soft drinks, beer, and wine./.
