The exercise, which lasted several hours, focused on mass attack tactics that could potentially block the vital waterway through the Strait of Hormuz if deployed in reality.

According to a VNA correspondent in the North Africa-Middle East region, on August 2, Iran began a large-scale military exercise in the Strait of Hormuz with the participation of more than 50 warships.
The military operation comes after President Donald Trump decided to withdraw the US from the nuclear deal with Iran.
Navy Captain Bill Urban, a spokesman for the US Central Command, said Washington is aware of increased Iranian naval activity in the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.
The United States is monitoring closely and will continue to work with partners to ensure freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in international waterways.
In fact, about 10% of the world's crude oil is transported through the Strait of Hormuz.
President Trump affirmed that the US administration is showing a tough stance towards Iran, although still leaving open the possibility of negotiations, and at the same time, Mr. Trump said that he is ready to meet unconditionally with the Iranian leader.
Washington officials said that although Iran was conducting military exercises, there was no threat to US forces.
Currently, the destroyer USS The Sullivans and several other British and French warships are present in the Persian Gulf.
In addition, 10 other US patrol ships are stationed at the US 5th Naval Fleet base in Bahrain.
Since the US withdrew from the nuclear deal, Iran's currency has plummeted, causing thousands of people to take to the streets in protest in many major Iranian cities in recent weeks./.
