Over 500 students from Yen Thanh district participated in irrigation work.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 21st, in Xuan Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, a campaign was launched to mobilize the entire population to participate in irrigation work in the fields in 2018, with the participation of over 500 students from Phan Dang Luu High School.
This year, due to the direct impact of typhoons No. 3 and No. 4, heavy rains and floods have damaged many irrigation and transportation infrastructure projects in Yen Thanh district, affecting the production and lives of the people.
Launching the 2018 irrigation campaign, from now until December 30th, all 39 communes and towns throughout the district will mobilize the people to focus on dredging and clearing the waterways in the entire irrigation and drainage canal system.

The district has assigned a target of excavating and filling 2 cubic meters of soil per sao (a unit of land measurement), improving field and plot embankments, combined with field sanitation to treat rice stripe dwarf disease in fields that were infected during the 2018 summer-autumn crop; and launched a campaign to mobilize the entire population to eradicate rats, grasshoppers, and locusts to protect winter crops.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, officials and people from 12 hamlets of Xuan Thanh commune and more than 500 10th-grade students from Phan Dang Luu High School went to the fields to dredge canals and ditches in the rice paddies, serving the spring crop of 2019 and subsequent crops.
